Next to a house in a residential neighborhood, southeast Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
Participants
Expedition
Finally we manage a preposterously easy bike hash. The hashpoint was next to a house, just a mile south of home. We biked down after dinner and got there just after 9 pm.
The house had its front door open, so we rang the bell. A dad and his little girl answered the door. George briefly explained geohashing and asked permission to walk through their side yard to take pictures. The dad seemed pretty interested, and recognized the concept of a graticule (calling it a "grid square"). He said sure, we were welcome to walk around in his yard. In the meantime, his daughter climbed a big maple tree in the front yard.
The yard was tree-covered and it was hard to get a GPS error below about 4m, but we did see error as low as 0.87 m at one point.
