Tampere is the most populous inland city in the Nordic countries. In terms of population, Tampere is the third largest municipality in Finland, after Greater Helsinki municipalities Helsinki and Espoo.
Like most graticules in Finland, majority of the area consists of taiga forests and it has many lakes.
