You earn the Virgin Graticule achievement by being the first to reach an official hashpoint in a graticule. Not to be confused with the Earliest geohasher achievement which goes to the first to arrive on any particular day, Virgin Graticule status is awarded only to the first to EVER achieve a hashpoint in a given graticule. Thus it is available only once per graticule and will become increasingly more difficult to achieve as time goes on. Completionist latecomers to the game will have to consider antarctic or oceanic graticules.
Who's on First?
The first person to reach a hashpoint in a graticule is the first to reach it on the correct day, with knowledge of the fact that it is a hashpoint. Happening to have been there in the past doesn't count, but if you go again you can claim the Déjà Vu Geohash. Everyone who is in the first group at the meet, or who arrives while the first group is still present, may claim this achievement. The pioneers should document their find on the wiki, including it in the Notable Dates section for the graticule in question.
It would be useful to the wiki if you would also augment the basic graticule page for the newly deflowered graticule, perhaps adding a representative picture of the area, some notes about the major communities, highways, lakes, and challenges. Even if you don't reach the geohash on an attempt at this achievement, you will be appreciated for giving some love to the graticule page.
List of Pioneers
Eventually there should be a chart here, with links, showing who first conquered each graticule, but I'll leave that to someone who knows how to make it automagic. Besides other categories, your Virgin expedition should have the Category:Coordinates_reached to qualify.
Until then, looking at the World map of Successful Expeditions should help. Plus, some regional pages give an overview:
