Plans
My day started in Lübeck, and I would have liked to visit a Geohash on my way back to Osnabrück. 2024-07-19 53 9 was predestined for that: I could take the train to Ottersberg, then the bus to Posthausen, walk to the coordinates, and since that would have been the last bus, walk back to the station. Walking the 7km way once was okay, but I did not want to do it twice, so I did need that bus. Unfortunately, my trains were late, and I was unable to get to Ottersberg in time to catch the last bus. Instead, I went to Osnabrück directly.
Another opportunity of course was this Geohash, with almost identical constraints. Once in Osnabrück, I could take the train to Borgholzhausen, the last bus to Loxten, walk to the coordinates, and walk back to the station.
Again, I was unwilling to walk the (again) 7km twice, so I did need to get on that bus.
Expedition
In the evening, I arrived at Osnabrück Central. I had half an hour until my train to Borgholzhausen was scheduled to leave, more than enough time. I was at the platform in time, but unfortunately, the train was not.
The train departed about 15 minutes late, which was not great, but I was willing to take the risk. The delay increased over time, and in Wellendorf, we came to a stop, and they announced that we would be waiting for at least another 15 minutes as we had to wait for a train going in the opposite direction. This is where I gave up, at this point the bus would be long gone if I were to continue to Borgholzhausen.
Instead, I left the train, switched platforms, got onto the train back to Osnabrück Central, and walked home.
