Expedition

Among routes with shorter bus rides, DB Navigator suggested an afternoon itinerary would be fastest. I ate lunch near Berlin-Lichtenberg, then boarded the hourly regional train towards Kostrzyn. It was small and crowded. Once it had accrued a few minutes of delay, a bus connection from Trebnitz no longer looked feasible, so I stayed on until the major stop of Seelow-Gusow. Then it was a short scenic bus ride to Neuhardenberg/Sportplatz.

The rest of the way was very direct: a somewhat-paved road soon turned into a varyingly-muddy track, and only a bit of open forest separated this from the point.

After retracing the route back into Neuhardenberg, I still had some extra minutes before the latest bus that would connect with the next return train. Under colorful skies, I walked past the Schloss I had noticed on the way into town, and caught the bus at Neuhardenberg/Kirche. Finally, a chilly wait for a much less crowded train back to Lichtenberg.
