About

This is the 1st known attempt at a hashpoint in the Galveston, Texas graticule. It is located in the greater Houston area, east of town and just east of 95W, thus in the next graticule over from Houston. This point also marked the 1-year anniversary of my first attempt at a point, located in the San Antonio graticule.

The area is mostly low plains, but the geohash itself is in a thick overgrown area, not far from Wallisville Rd & the dirt road pictured. I got to within 80 ft of the point from the dirt road and was not at all inclined to hack my way through what was probably filled with poison ivy and sharp things.

Since it was Memorial Day, I decided to also check out the San Jacinto Battlefield Monument which is about 10 miles away by the Lynchburg Ferry.
