A fairly good dirt road took off east from NM-47 a little way out of town, and got me within a mile or so of the hash, but I was pretty sure I could do better so I turned north on a somewhat overgrown double track.  There were a couple of muddy spots, but I stopped at about a half mile due east of the spot and found a well-worn cow path that led me almost directly to the spot.  I was treated to great views of the Manzanos to the east and [http://www.frankstehno.com/sagemesa/destinations/newmexico/elcerrotome/eltomeintro.htm El Cerro Tome] to the northwest.  I got there a little after three, but wasn't inclined to wait for the 4p meetup because I wasn't terribly convinced that anyone else would be coming.  :-/

Plan

The hash in just about every graticule in the area was in some difficult to reach spot except for this one, so I headed south and wandered into the big empty area between Belen and the Manzano mountains.

Expedition

A fairly good dirt road took off east from NM-47 a little way out of town, and got me within a mile or so of the hash, but I was pretty sure I could do better so I turned north on a somewhat overgrown double track. There were a couple of muddy spots, but I stopped at about a half mile due east of the spot and found a well-worn cow path that led me almost directly to the spot. I was treated to great views of the Manzanos to the east and El Cerro Tome to the northwest. I got there a little after three, but wasn't inclined to wait for the 4p meetup because I wasn't terribly convinced that anyone else would be coming.  :-/
