Patrick : Didn't quite make it. Hoping the novelty and adventure will still be here next week.
Saturday 31 May Meetup
I made it to the Boston meetup last week (24 May), and it was great, including Randall and about 40 others. I'll try to be at the San Bernardino graticule meetup next week, unless the geohash is in the northern half, in which case I might go to Santa Ana one instead. -Jacob
Looks like this meetup is likely to be on some sort of private property. I don't know if I'll be able to make it this time anyway, but some sort of advance planning on where to meet if the actual location is inaccessible would probably be a good idea. (Or there's always the LA graticule's meetup, which appears to be right on the 10 freeway just west of the 110 interchange.)--Steuard
It was on private property. I was able to make it pretty close but refrained from hopping a fence. --far_call
Saturday 7 June Meetup
So, it looks like this week's San Bernardino meetup is in an out-of-the-way, but accessible, bit of desert near Apple Valley. While the location doesn't seem particularly interesting, Martin and I are planning to make the hash. Anyone else interested posting here would be nice, since we would like to know if there'll be more than just the two of us sitting in the desert. (The Santa Ana location appears possibly inaccessible, though I'm not sure about the rules of random people meeting at a soccer field at a sports park, but if people normally in the San Bernardino graticule are more interested in that one, saying that here would also be nice. The Los Angeles location might be more doable, and actually has things like nearby food. Also a consideration.) -- Chris
I am planning to hit the San Bernardino location. The fact that it looks uninteresting makes me more want to go there and find out if it actually is. -- far_call
Made it there and wandered around a bit in the desert. -- far_call
Martin and I made it... very late (yay traffic and getting lost). We ended up believing that the location was a bit more south than it actually was. This meant that we got to go climbing (pics after we get them online). It also means we didn't get to the location (we found out after returning that the road we were looking for was far more north). We're not sure whether to classify this under "Mother Nature's Bitch" or "We Suck at Finding Things". Or both. Also, it turns out climbing when you're not prepared for it sucks. You know, with sandals and no water. Yeah.... Sauron 04:13, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
