Plans

Kristina is the one who introduced me to xkcd and she is now at UW Osh Kosh which is in this graticule. Previously, I found a couple of geocashes in that area so I knew the approximate coordinates for this school, so when I saw the coordinates for today's hashpoint, I checked to see and, sure enough, the spot was not far from her school.

I was stuck at work all day and with the hashpoint being a two hour drive, I decided to try for the Puppet Master Geohash instead.

Expedition

I called Kristina during the day that included the phrase, "Your mission, should you choose to accept it..." and she did.

Around the time I was getting home, I started receiving the pictures via SMS. I gave her a call to hear how it went. To that point, much of this is third hand.

When we looked at the map together on the phone, we could see the hashpoint was on private property and discussed ways of handing it. She went with the direct approach and went right up to the house and explained that "the internet sent her here" and asked if she could wander around and take pictures for a few minutes. The homeowner thought it was amusing but let her proceed.

The owner had a couple of young cats that followed her around, including one that kept trying to climb on her and one that just zipped around.

Thanks to Kristina for her adventurous spirit and courage to ask permission. Many thanks to her fiancee, Sean, for his patience and support during this insanity.
