The Carbondale Graticule has the distinction of lying almost entirely within the areas of totality for two upcoming solar eclipses, on August 21, 2017, and April 8, 2024.
The confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers is just south of the far southeast corner of this graticule, in the Sikeston, Missouri graticule.
