Use {{location|CA}}
to tag expeditions that took place in Canada. It will add Category:Expeditions in Canada to the expedition.
Using ISO 3166-2 abbreviations, you may also tag the province/territory that the expedition took place in. Those abbreviations correspond to the abbreviations used by Canada Post and CIRA, with the exception of YK
being used for Yukon by CIRA and YT
being used by others. Both YK
and YT
can be used with this template.
You can also tag a more local subdivision inside of all provinces and territories except for Yukon and Manitoba, because for them OpenStreetMap does not have data yet. The type of subdivision varies, it may be called a Regional District, a County or something else. Some of them have HASC codes, use them in that case. For other subdivisions without HASC codes, this template establishes codes of its own.
If the category link appears red, do not worry and create the category. Make sure that it is included in the appropriate parent category, for instance, Category:Expeditions in the Metro Vancouver Regional District is a subcategory of Category:Expeditions in British Columbia which is a subcategory of Category:Expeditions in Canada. The subcategories should be sorted in by their respective code.
