Expedition
After the last lecture of the day, I was going into the city centre for the department's RPG night, so I figured I might as well ride the S-Bahn a few stations more, even though this hash was definitely inaccessible. I exited at Wilhelmsburg and was greeted by heavy rain with relatively strong winds. I took out my umbrella and walked one kilometre, which gave the rain plenty of time to penetrate my new shoes and soak my socks. The hash lay 47 m from the street Zur Guten Hoffnung ("To Good Hope") in a back garden, right next one of the circular bunkers that exist in this part of Wilhelmsburg. On the other side of the garden is an elementary school, whose premises were probably closed at this time of day. I stood in front of the houses, fumbling with my phone in the cold, and many cars passed me. I didn't think it worthwhile to walk up to the house nearest to hash to shave off a few metres because it was definitely occupied, I could see someone in the kitchen and also a youth gaming in his room above. I left after a car pulled into the exact driveway I had just pondered walking onto and another drove past me very slowly, surely thinking me extremely suspicious. I walked back to the station and went into the centre, but on the way from Dammtor station to the physics department the wind and rain had strongly intensified (some of the heaviest I've ever experienced), and my umbrella was blown against my face despite me not losing my grip. Fortunately, umbrella and coat kept everything except my feet mostly dry.
