Expedition

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon where I didn’t have any plans apart from lounge about and work on my new house. Right when I wanted to start doing some real work, I decided to check for the hashes and I found out that there was a hash about 10 minutes from my house!! So much for the DIY I guess.

I got on my bike and quickly rode it to the hash. Only complication was that I wasn’t sure if I could actually reach it. It was on seemingly private property with a high fence around it. And GPS wasn’t clear how far into the property the hash was.

When I arrived at the hash, the fence was larger than I expected. Also, the hash was about 15 meters into the property. Signage near the entrance told me that I was not allowed to enter, and that there was some kind of housing for people with mental health problems on the property. I didn’t see anyone outside, so I figured I’d ask one of the nurses if I could grab the hash and be gone again. I walked up to the main building and quickly four people saw me and came towards me. 2 nurses and 2 patients. After explaining my goals for the day, one of the nurses gracefully allowed me to grab the hash. To be honest, the nurses seemed to think it was a cool concept.

I turned on the app again, and tried to get close to the hash. This shouldn’t have been hard, but the field was very muddy and wet, which made it hard to walk in a straight line without getting my feet, socks and shoes wet. My GPS would not cooperate and it took me a while to actually get a good reading on where I needed to go. Finally, I got within 2 meters, so I grabbed my screenshot, took the pictures and went on my way again.

All in all, not to hard thanks to the permission of the friendly nurses. And a beautiful sunny day to grab an easy hash
