Location
A farm track in the countryside near to the village of Scholar Green, in Cheshire.
Participants
Plans
I've been actively searching for my first successful geohash for a couple of weeks, and after a near-miss where I failed to check the terrain ("in a field" was actually "on a steep, damp hillside"), this one landed perfectly. Not only was there no question regarding access (it was directly in the middle of a singposted public right-of-way) but I'd already planned an excursion to a nearby theme park for the same day.
Expedition
As planned, it was an early arrival - 7:45am on a Sunday morning is no joke, especially when there was an hours' drive beforehand. But, being a Sunday in the middle of nowhere, I barely saw another human being.
I was slightly worried about the potential for curious locals - despite being a public right-of-way, there was a farmhouse at the entrance to the track, and another farm at the end of the track - but I only saw a solitary dog-walker, with two dogs, and that was after I'd reached the coordinates.
They won't get much easier than this, but I'm glad to get my page up-and-running, and I'm looking forward to some tougher challenges in the near future!
