I had a good look at this coordinate on friday, if I only knew! I looked through google maps, which only marks Lac du Bois Road (a very long trip), and when I saw the Jamieson Creek canyon, I assumed there would be no shortcut across it (I see now it follows it). Kamloops is a long drive for me already, so I never looked into it further. Your method for navigating FSRs is exactly what I use. When we did Princeton together, I had marked Kelowna the same way (which we skipped), but didn't get to mark Vernon, which was one-hundredth the distance, and we still got lost. :) Juventas 05:05, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Ha! yeah, it was quite the loop, and google maps didn't know anything about those roads - it was from the aerial photos of course. They're so windy due to terrain you can't just follow the GPS arrow. -- Rhonda 05:23, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- I do start with my mapbook, then move to the imagery. In an area like this the roads are well-defined, but in wetter climates the growth makes it impossible to make out the smaller roads and trails. Off-topic, I plan on being down there in a week. I'll have no car or bicycle, but I'll bring a GPS! Juventas 02:59, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
That tracklog looks vicious! Can't wait to read the report later! Thepiguy 11:37, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- The expedition report that's already there? Or are you talking about some other report? -- Rhonda 13:47, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
