Ted originally wanted to attempt the Santa Cruz, California graticule. "(1st XKCD Meetup) Deep ocean. Tried San Jose, California, but was on private property, behind a keypad-only access gate. (Met some very nice ranchers, though :) (Actually, I later realized that I had attempted the 5/23 location on 5/24. <sigh>)"
