I was nearby and had wanted to visit Wuppertal anyway, mostly to ride on the famous suspension railway (Schwebebahn), so this hash was basically perfect. I'd started the day in Höxter, then took some trains to Dortmund where I left my stuff in the hostel and continued on to Zeche Zollverein in Essen, where I spent three hours. Then, after my bus failed to arrive, I took a metro and a train to Wuppertal and walked the 700 m to the hash. Shortly before arriving, on the same street, I stopped to get some cheap yet delicious fries.

The hash lay right on the sidewalk opposite the spiral ramp of a parking deck, making for an interesting view. Afterward, I boarded the Schwebebahn from the next stop in a random direction, amazed by this fabulous mode of travel that should be much more widespread. I visited some of Wuppertal's few sights, including the birth house of Friedrich Engels, had a video call with friends, and then returned to Dortmund to get some much needed sleep.

Interestingly, while this was only the fourth-ever expedition in Wuppertal, the last one happened less than two weeks previously when two hashers met on and hashed inside the Schwebebahn.

Two weeks after 2024-08-08 51 7 there was another hash at Wuppertal. Today in the front of a barber shop, at the crossing of Neumarktstraße and Grünstraße. I had to look for some more stolpersteins again, so I traveled to Wuppertal, looked for one stolperstein first (didn't find it), walked to the hash and looked for three stolpersteins after (didn't find them too). I didn't find the exact location of the hash. The nearest distance the GPSr showed were eight meters. But the GPSr showed these eight meters on the whole crossing and while I was walking up to 30 meters away. Maybe it was on the crossing, but I couldn't overview the traffic and I walked all around and found the track of my walk through the hash. Then I travelled home.
