The Sheffield graticule [1] is at latitude 55, longitude -4. It is mostly on land, except for the western portion (which is in the Firth of Clyde), and stretches from Helensburgh in the north down to the Galloway Forest Park in the south.
On May 21st, 2008 the co-ordinates pointed to a location just off a country road, around one mile east of Currarie and two miles west of (though closer to by road) Pinmore. The nearest sizable town was Girvan, about six miles drive north.
