Plans

Accordering to the route planner it was 60 km by car to the hash. The position was north of Bergheim and west of Niederaußem. I planned to park at the small street "Am Kreuzweg", about 2 km east of the hash.

Expedition

After passing a traffic jam because of roadworks at the motorway I reached the planned street after a detour through Bergheim. Alas, here were many fences - much of this area seemed to be the property of the lignite powerstation Kraftwerk Niederaußem. So I drove to the west and found a parking place near a Gliding Airport. The direct distance to the hash was still 2 km from here.

But the paths were in chessboard style so the real walking distance was about the double of it. I could not use the direct approach because it was a mostly agricultural area. But the sky was clear, the temperature at about 8 - 10°C so I let my parka in the car and took the opportunity to jog. Not many people were here, only a couple with dogs, some cyclists and one who was skiing on wheels. From the way the powerstation was in view, just behind a row of trees.

All in all, I reached the hash much later as I had planned. As on my visits to wet meadows in recent expeditions, I stood in the middle of nothing. But this time I had a tripod with me! No more fiddling on the ground to position the camera.

After taking some photos I jogged back to the car, most of the way.
