Expeditions 1

Continuing on from the 2022-08-28 -37 144 geohash, we arrived, via some sneaky, narrow lanes, at the cul-de-sac of the geohash. With approximately 4 minutes to midnight we whipped out some beers, celebrated quietly, danced around the point of exact geohashingness and awaited the hash to land on us.

With a short count down we managed to record the exact moment that the hash both became accessible to us and that it was accomplished. Our audience was a hash-cat skulking nearby and a shooting star that only Lachie had the wherewithal to notice.

It was also John's birthday (Happy Birthday John!) - another event occurring at the exact moment of midnight - a very busy microsecond.

We got back on our bikes and headed around Fawkner Cemetery, through the various construction detours and then along the Upfield Bike Path back to our respective homes.

I arrived home with enough time before 1am that I could comfortably faff around for another 40 minutes before going to bed and getting up in the morning for work.

Expedition 2

Geohash 2022-08-29 -37 144 Steve Cam.jpg

Stevage and Cam couldn't make the midnight hash, so we rode up on Monday evening. I (Steve) met Cam on the Upfield bike path near his house, and we rode up together, discussing the joys of gardening and especially tromboncino zucchinis. Then we took a surprisingly nice photo in poor light.
