Expedition
Utilizing our new Federal Holiday of Juneteenth (celebrating the freeing of the last slaves in Galveston Bay, Texas two years after the Emancipation Proclamation), we took an extra long weekend for a trip to Québec City with J's family. On the drive out, I saw the opportunity to pick up today's Buffalo hash which was practically on the way.
Getting on the road early, we didn't have much traffic to deal with and were able to find the restaurant without any trouble. The place didn't open until 15:00 so I wasn't worried about anyone being in the parking lot or being stared at as I walked across the lawn. Upon arrival, I saw a couple cars on the other side of the building, likely the BBQ Masters preparing the day's smoked meats. I guided J to the lot closest to the hash at the front of the building and hopped out. J was happy to stay in the car as I zeroed in on the hash point for a quick GPS dance with the Hash Droid app.
If we weren't going anywhere today, I definitely would have suggested going in the evening for dinner and some beers, but alas, we'll have to try the BBQ another time. The remainder of our drive up to Plattsburgh, NY was uneventful, but we did stop in the Adirondacks for a short (due to the heatwave) hike and some beers at Paradox Brewery further up the road before arriving at J's Aunt and Uncle's place before continuing on our way the next day. There weren't any other reasonably reachable hashes on the way, but at least we started the trip off with an easy one!
