There's been a suggestion to move this graticule to Burning Man, Nevada. While it is outside the usual scheme of naming grats after the largest/most notable town within them, Burning Man is a well-known event even outside of the region, while the town of Gerlach is unheard of except perhaps in relation to the event. As such, I personally feel it's worth naming the grat after the most recognizable feature of it, even though it isn't a town. Any objections to the move? -Haberdasher 12:54, 15 April 2012 (EDT)
- Perhaps slightly more in keeping with the usual naming scheme would be to name it Black Rock City -- possibly the largest and most notable town within the graticule, even if temporary. Similarly, you might want to create redirects for Gerlach and Burning Man to point to BRC. Just a suggestion, I don't actually have a horse in this race. Ted 12:58, 15 April 2012 (EDT)
- I hadn't considered that, but that's a definite possibility too. Making redirects for whichever two aren't used seems logical, at any rate. For what it's worth, I don't have a horse in this race either, I just thought the proposed name made sense. -Haberdasher 12:59, 15 April 2012 (EDT)
- Ooo, a better (meaning less-disruptive) way might be to leave Gerlach as the "main" page, and have BRC & BM redirect to it. Again, I'm just tossing out suggestions, and don't feel strongly about the name. Mostly, I'm trying to suggest strong "leave no trace" solutions. :) Ted 13:00, 15 April 2012 (EDT)
- That'd work too, and it'd be a good stopgap measure if nothing else. :) -Haberdasher 11:13, 16 April 2012 (EDT)
