Expedition

The Plan

On Rose Lane of Cordele, Georgia. Get off I-75 at E 16th Avenue, dip into the residential area, attempt a Speed Racer, then head back. Easy as pie!

The Adventure

We were in Atlanta for the weekend, so we were glad that there was at least one on the trip back. Ignoring the whims of the GPS, once we got close enough, we followed our own handwritten directions.

Once we were there, we turned onto Rose Lane and gunned it for a chance at Speed Racer. Two things happened here: one, as I realized as I hit 30 MPH, no one was recording. Two, our plan was to use the trip log as evidence that we hit the point. Since we weren't recording the speed, we stopped to get out of the car and take a picture of the GPS.

Nothing. We had lost satellite reception in this suburban area! Undeterred, we went around the corner and picked reception back up before circling back around. This time, we held reception up to the point where we parked our car, got out, and it triumphantly lost it again. Walking up and down the street on both sides did nothing. From my own guesstimates, it ended up juuuust in someone's yard, so I walked in the ditches of the yards, much to the chagrin of the yappy little dogs in the yard.

We left the Five of Diamonds in a phone pole (not sure where my blue marker went...) at the end of the street and continued our drive back to Jacksonville.
