About

Down a river bank that runs through North West Atlanta

If I decide to drive in to Atlanta instead of taking I-285 top end home because of traffic, this Geohash is only 2 miles out of my way home. There is no reason why I should not attempt this Geohash.

I got off of I-75 south an exit or two just before turning on I-85 and returning North. I drove through some neighborhoods of some very expensive homes. It was some nice neighborhoods. I turned into the last street and saw the river that the geohash spot was on. I drove 1/4 of a mile down the road and stopped my truck with 78 feet to go. Not close enough.

I hopped out and walked to the river bank edge. To my horror it was about a 20 foot drop straight down with 55 feet to go. I am still not close enough. I walked up and down the river bank to see if there was a better way to get down. There wasn't. I stood there a few seconds contemplating the coordinates not reached award. It was so dark that I could barely see the river bank 20 feet below.

As I walked back to my truck I remembered that I have a new headlight for my bicycle. My bicycle is in the back of my truck because I did ride to work today... Here...[1] and back here..[2]

I grabbed the headlight off my my bicycle and very carefully slid down the edge to the river bank. I pulled out my eTrex and shined the light on it. Still 54 feet to go.... What the????

It then went into spitting out some crazy numbers. I walked around a tree that had fallen and actually my left foot was now in the water. 9 feet to go. I'll take a picture..... When I pulled out my camera.... 37 feet to go. I held up my eTrex 22 feet to go.

After waiting a minute or so for the eTrex to settle and my left foot getting extremely cold, I took a picture at 27 feet. Close enough.

I then carefully climbed back up the bank the same way that I slid down and made it back to my truck.

I then drove home to Norcross
