Pastori rushing in to the forest.

Pastori awoke from his nap and while drinking a cuppa coffee he noticed that the hashpoint was only about 4 kilometres away as the bird flies. It had been raining heavily all morning but just then there was a little pause in the rain and away they went. Pastori is familiar with the forests around his house and he knows that it is not easy to go through the swamps and impenetrable thickets, so he and Wife took the car.

A mushroomist's dream forest.

By car they got to a distance of about 200 metres from the hashpoint. Pastori put some mosquito repellant on his face and hands and Wife put on a rainjacket and trousers and a mosquito hat and off they went into the forest. Surprisingly 200 metres turned into at least 400 metres because the terrain was challenging and the orienteering did not go as planned. Well, they did indeed find the point at an accuracy of roughly about 2.721 metres. For once there was already some 1000 hashers waiting at the spot, namely mosquitoes. After the mandatory pictures they were off as fast as they could. As an avid mushroomist Pastori was frustrated that he did not bring his mushrooming gear with him and decided that from now on he would always have the necessary equipment with him. Still, he picked three great leccinum versipelle -mushrooms that they cooked as a little evening snack, yum.

The return from the hashpoint to the car was made solely on the basis of Pastori's amazingly good natural orientation skills. After going around so much on the way to the hashpoint, the return distance was only about 200 metres, straight to where the car was. This ability keeps amazing Pastori himself.
