Expedition
Today's hash was located on an island in the river Nederrijn, that I had seen from the road on a previous expedition. The island is home to a large complex of water management infrastructure, comprising a huge weir system (a barrier to regulate flow), a lock to let ships pass and a fish ladder to allow fish to travel upstream. To get to the hash I would need to cross the lock, though I wasn't sure if that would be possible. In many lock systems the doors also function as a bridge for pedestrians, so it was reasonable to assume that it would be possible here as well.
Alas, the whole system turned out to be out of bounds. There were benches to sit on and watch the ships pass, and signs explaining the workings of all the equipment, but the lock itself was not accessible. Still nice to look at though.
