Plans
When the "Hashiversary" alert popped up in my calendar I checked the coordinates and was pleased to see them accessible and not too far away. Weather forecast was also good, so we decided to go for it.
Expedition
While we both forgot our wedding day this year, our calendar reliably notifies us of our Hashiversary each April 28th. Up to now we never made it. Luckily this year the spot was accessible (23 km away on a field), Saturday, no excuses. A lot has happened since our last documented expedition: new job, new home, new toddler. Geohashing kind of faded to the background during this time, but now I hope we will go more frequently again.
We felt our daughter kind of grew out of her old geohashing name, so we decided to follow the family tradition of using Simpsons secondary characters. Now its "AllisonTaylor" for the older and "SophieKrustofsky" for the younger of our kids :)
After a rainy morning the sky cleared around noon, we packed the bike trailer and started our expedition. The route brought us through a small zoo (open to the public) where we stopped for ice cream. Then we continued, came through the village from where we moved to our new home four weeks ago, and then had a few more kilometers to go. The spot was about 40m into a meadow, easy to find. Eleanor waited at the road together with the baby, while Allison and Leslie waded into the high grass, took some pictures and a screenshots of the GPS. It was a few minutes after 4 pm, but I think it may still count as an official "Saturday meetup". On our way back we had a picnic and finally arrived at home around half past six, tired but happy.
