Expedition

Canada geese on their way to the north.

Pastori had decided to go through a little more trouble since it was World Geohashing Day. And boy did he have trouble. Pastori and Wife were happy to find that the green of summer had reached their neck of the woods too during their last trip to the south. The last sign of summer, the swallows, had arrived to delight them with their presense.

Geohashing Day opened with rain and fog. They heard the distant rumble of thunder and woke to rain beating down on their roof. It was still early morning and somewhere a cuckoo was making its presense known. Thankfully Pastori had enough patience to keep himself at bay for a few hours and the rain subsided. But, knowing their forest, Pastori and Wife still dressed in proper rain gear.

The point was 15 km away as the crow flies and the distance doubled when driving. However they could only get 700 m away on the car. They disembarked and set out towards the point, following an old dirt road for the first 400 m. But then they were faced with the truth. The point was still another 330 m away and even from the path they could see that the forest was full of tree trunks that had fallen under heavy snow last winter. There were also plenty of jagged rocks to manage somehow. Well, filled with determination Pastori rushed into the forest with Wife behind him. Note to readers, Pastori has recently bought more colorful rain gear so Wife can now see him from even further away.

And so the point got closer slow, very slow, but sure. Finally they reached the edge of the marsh on the other side of which the point was just sitting there, waiting for someone to find it. Pastori was very happy with his own and Wife's accomplishment. Congratulations to he himself and everyone else for their achievements on Geohashing Day.

Stats: 2 h, driving 70 km, walking on a dirst road 1 km and through the thicket 1 km.

Difficulty (1-5) = 5+

Is this even passable?
