Expedition

Since we lost our Broomball game last week in the Playoffs, the team was meeting at the bar again to use up the rest of our team funds from the Referee Fees that went unused. The plan was to meet at 20:00 and because I work from home on Mondays, I had a couple hours to work with. The Buffalo Hash landed in Allegany near a couple previous expeditions off the Firetower trail so this could have been a Double Hash, but it would have been really tight. Also, I didn't want to just rush up the trail to the hash and back down again. That trail is STEEP.

This hash was very close to a park with a baseball diamond and checking for GeoCaches, there was one right on the corner of the Home Run fence so I was looking forward to a Hash Collision Honorable Mention (not within line of sight). I decided it would be easier and more time efficient to go to the hash before meeting my teammates at the bar. Plus, I could do this in the partial dark. Per Google, it would take an hour to drive from my house to the hash and then to the bar so I was trying to leave the house at 18:30 or a little before that. True to nature, I left 10 minutes later than planned.

The drive up was no trouble and I just used the GPS on the phone to guide me. Finding the park, it was larger than I thought and I pulled into the First parking lot. However, as I did, I saw another parking lot closer to the Baseball field (and the hash) so I did a quick circle in the lot and pulled into the other one. Hoping out, I walked down the sidewalk to the parking area for the Apartment on the corner. Opening the HashDroid app, I barely had to do a GPS Dance to get a great reading. Taking some pictures in the dark, I headed back to the car.

Going back to the Hash Collision, I was thinking this was going to be skipped because it had rained all day and the area around the baseball field had standing water everywhere. Not interested in wading through ankle deep (or possibly deeper) water, I just took a quick pic and skipped the Cache (There Might be Alligators). The drive downtown to the Bar was uneventful, but I had some great Chicken Fingers for dinner and had a good time with the teammates as we commiserated on our season.
