I was pretty excited to see where this landed as it's on the old Bethlehem Steel site but back in the early 80s, most of the plant shut down. See this link for more info. I was extra excited because I may have been able to complete a Tale of Two Hashes for 'Bethlehem'. Technically, I don't think it would count, but locally, that land is still referenced as 'the old Bethlehem Steel site' even though there is other heavy industry there now (and importantly, happily, more is going in).

Anyway, the plan was to help my girlfriend a bit with her house and then hit this Geohash on the way home. In the morning, we went to the local Farmer's Market and then started replacing the old bathroom vent fan. She has a crawl space attic without a floor, just insulation between the beams, so we had to be extra careful no to crash through the ceiling. Of course there's also some water pipes that cross right above the ceiling opening so it was a little tough getting the old one out. Fortunately, the new one was able to be wedged across and then could be straightened out into position. We were thinking we would have to open the hole to move the fan to the side at one point. We then realized the brace was too long for the space so we would have to cut it, but we didn't have a hack-saw. Fortunately, my parents, living a couple miles up the road did so we stopped over for a minute. Getting that set up, we found we would have to take out a spacer board, but now another brace would have to be used. And you guessed it, it's too long too. Back to my parents...

The electric was wired a bit weird and had another light (above the bathtub) on that line, but the fan she got was a fancy one with bluetooth so it can't be on a circuit with anything else. I wasn't sure how to play with the connections, so I ended up just disconnecting the light and hooking the fan to the switch on it's own. Also, the new switch for the fan is special and based on the configuration of what was connecting in the electrical box, I wasn't sure how to hook that up either. My girlfriend called her cousin and her partner is an electrician so he's going to stop by to help finish things up. I think we ended up taking out and putting the fan in place about 7 or 8 times before we got everything lined up and secured. Needless to say, it was a long, frustrating day and it was dinnertime by the time we finished what we could.

I had the dogs, but wasn't expecting to stay this late so they didn't have their dinner and Myka is a nervous dog, and is still stressing out a bit when I take them over. Rather than stop at the hash and make them wait in the car causing more anxiety, I decided to just head for home. Our route takes us directly by the hash though so I grabbed a screenshot as I drove by. I was hoping to be caught at the light at the intersection so I could grab a pic of the hash area too, but it was green as I got there.
