The location is a couple of miles west of where I work, so I'm stopping by on the way home.

Expedition

I didn't have much time to spare, as Gwynnath had a meeting to get to, so I left the office at the crack of 5PM and headed out. I biked up US-206 to Orlando Drive (much safer than Dukes Parkway West for bicycles), and over the Nevius Street Bridge, an old truss bridge that is obsoleted to car traffic but open to pedestrians and bicycles. From there, it was less than a mile down River Road, where I stopped at the side of the road. The field was a lower elevation than the road, so I climbed down an embankment, through all sorts of thorny brush, to get to the edge of the field.

At the edge ran a ditch, about ten feet across and a foot deep in water. The ground on the other side was not inviting either: everything looks like flat grassland on a satellite photo, but in person it was rougher ground with brush and weeds. It had been cleared once with the intent of some kind of development, but had been left fallow and unused for several years.

I decided I did not have time for more obstacles than I'd already dealt with (and I was on private property besides), so I accepted defeat and rode home in search of bandages.
