This is a proposal made on 2015-11-27. Please leave comments and suggestions on Talk:Tag the hash achievement, indicating your thoughts on the proposal, including:
  • Support - you think this proposal should be added with zero or minor changes
  • Do not oppose - you think it's boring/meh/not for you, but it wouldn't harm to have it created
  • Oppose - you have a specific reason as to why this ribbon should not exist (state this reasoning in your comment)
  • Needs work - you think the achievement should be created after more significant changes have been made

See Proposed achievements for more information on this process.

(RIBBON TO BE ADDED)

Just as a child playing a game of tag will attempt to reach the nearest player, so too will a Tag the Hash geohasher attempt to reach the nearest geohash.

To earn this achievement, you must reach the geohash point closest to the point you reached on the previous day. This will not necessarily be the geohash closest to your home, depending on how the coordinates are spread out. A minimum of three consecutive days are required to earn the achievement. You may attempt multiple geohashes on each day, should you choose to do so, and this will open up your choices for the following day. An example of a sequence of geohashes which could be used for this achievement can be found in the image below.

Frequent geohashers may notice similarities between this achievement and the Consecutive geohash achievement. The main difference with this achievement is that you are not free in choosing the specific geohash and instead must go to the one closest to your previous one.

As the number of days increases, the achievement gets more difficult (and more impressive). It is possible to combine this achievement with the Endurance Geohashing achievement, which requires you to stay overnight near the geohash points and forbids returning home during the achievement attempt, but it is not required to do this.

Proof

The standard proof of reaching the geohash point is required. Alongside this, a screenshot of https://geohashing.info (or similar) showing that the attempted points were the nearest to each previous one is required (as shown in the example above).
