From an inspection on Google Maps it looked like this hashpoint was in a public tennis court of the sort run by the Toronto parks department. (It wasn't!) After buying a lightbulb at IKEA, I took the train up to Eglinton Station and then the 34 to Wynford Drive. It was drizzling as I got off the bus. "Perfect," I thought, "this means that the tennis courts ought to be empty, and so I won't be stuck in an awkward situation trying to access it during a match."
Of course I had to snap a photo of the Wynford Line 5 station. Avid readers of Frogman expedition reports may remember that Line 5 is an LRT originally scheduled to be open in 2020 but which has been beleaguered by numerous setbacks, of which the governing body responsible, Metrolinx, have been tight-lipped about. Current anonymous reports suggest that only one station (in the underground portion) of the line appears to be holding up the opening, and that the contract design won't allow the government to assume control of the line until the entire thing is complete. The above-ground section, of which Wynford is a part of, looks ready to go. In a previous report I predicted that I would earn my PhD before Line 5 opened, and this has indeed happened.
I walked up Wynford Drive to Concorde Place and found the trail for the tennis courts. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that the tennis courts were private property, for use by residents of the nearby Concorde Park. Oh, well!
