Gaboversta is considering attempting this geohash, though this does hinge on getting up somewhat early and trains running sort of on time. If everything works out, I should be there at around 15:15 local time.

This would also net me a nice 4-in-a-row achievement, if I am not mistaken.

After announcing my plans I was at first not sure whether I would actually attempt this, but once Fippe briefly indicated interest the plans solidified, further reinforced by GeorgDerReisende announcing similar plans.

My journey to the hash was rather unremarkable, everything worked out. Two odd things stood out to me: The volume of the announcements on the RE2 that took me from Osnabrück to Wanne-Eickel was turned to what I truly hope is the maximum, and things where going on in Osnabrück main station.

Upon timely arrival from Oldenburg to Osnabrück, I observed federal police folks erecting barriers at various places throughout the station, with no obvious indication as to why. On my return trip, the barriers had moved, mostly out of the way, but the presence of the police was drastically increased. I debated asking them what was going on, but figured it was probably just preparations due to some high stakes football game and moved on.

GeorgDerReisende was already waiting for me at the rather unremarkable location of the hash when I got there. Some pictures where taken and we left for the train station, just narrowly missing one of the rare Sunday busses. While waiting for the next one friendly conversation was made.

I myself have not taken a picture of the two of us, but GeorgDerReisende did. Once that is uploaded I intend on claiming the meet-up achievement, in addition to 4-in-a-row.

In the morning at Kassel I had some trouble at the railway station, because the 7 o'clock-train was at first announced late and then cancelled by unknown reason. The 8 o'clock train was cancelled, too. The next train would be that one at 10 o'clock. While I was walking around the station and looking for other solutions to travel to Oberhausen in time, the first train was renewed with a delay of 50 minutes. I took this one. At Lippstadt all passengers were told to change to another train and with this train I arrived at Hamm one hour later as planned. The next train went as planned, but I arrived at Oberhausen one hour later as my plan and this was bad for my walk.

I walked around the south-west of Oberhausen and arrived at the Concordiaplatz in good time. To meet my friend on 15th, at 15:15. I took the usual photos and waited for Gaboversta. Some minutes later he arrived.

We talked a little, Gaboversta looked for the hash, too. Then we went to the bus stop and missed one by a minute. We walked to the next one and talked again and waited there and this bus was a little late. At the train station of Oberhausen I took the next train and everything went well. Until I arrived at Kassel and noticed that the following train was cancelled again. So if we had talked some ten minutes more I would have arrived at home two hours later!
