Expedition
I've been out of the game for a while. This was a Saturday hashpoint easily accessible by public transportation, the rest of the family is away, it was sunny and pleasant outside, and my grading is done for the semester: time to return to geohashing.
The bus schedule was encouraging: from the usual stop near my house either #5 or 6 went to Central Station, 10-minute layover, bus #8 directly to the park entrance, half an hour to wander around and find the hashpoint, #8 back to the station, 10-minute layover, and either #5 or 6 back home. This is a good schedule for a Saturday.
At the park it was easy to find the hashpoint in a grassy field close to the road. I was there a few minutes before 4. A woman carrying an iPad came wandering over and asked whether I was playing Pokemon Go. I said no, I was playing a sort of similar thing called geohashing. It appears there was a Pokemon egg at today's hashpoint that she was trying to collect. She was frustrated because she couldn't get a good enough Internet connection to get credit for it, though she could see that she was in the right place. We had a short but pleasant conversation.
I waited around until 4 pm. Right about then a guy pulled up in the closest parking space while looking at his phone, and I momentarily thought I might actually get to meet another geohasher. But he stayed in his car and seemed uninterested in random spots in the field in front of him. I decided he was just one of the bazillions of people who look at their phones while driving. I walked back to the road to catch the 4:08 bus toward home.
