After a 3 hour hike in Letchworth earlier in the day, I was pretty tired after getting home. The initial plan was to ride my bike over in the morning, but I ran out of time as explained in the other writeup. I did need some Pizza supplies and there is a small grocery store on the way to this hash, so rather than just drive by a posted field, I could make something out of this. Deciding I had some time, and I wasn't starving for dinner (I had some snacks on the hike), I went for it.
I stopped by the store first since I wasn't sure when they closed for the day and got a few items. The Governor of New York declared that if we were going to be in public places that we should be wearing a mask or some kind of face covering. Not having anything, I used a clean kitchen towel as a makeshift face covering. I'm sure I looked goofy, but at least I was complying with the order. I'll pick up a mask from my parents soon as my mom has been making a couple and I'll need it at least for shopping.
Driving the rest of the way to the field, I was pretty shocked to see the field was not posted, but I felt weird about walking out there for some reason. Thinking about what I was going to do, I looked over at the house across the street. I saw a guy with his dog so I rolled down the window and asked if this was his field. If I couldn't take a No Trespassing ribbon, maybe I could get an Ambassador! He said it was, so I asked if I could go into the field for a minute. He said "No, no walking in the field". I thanked him anyway and took a couple pictures. I guess I get my No Trespassing after all.
Since he flat out said no, I didn't really get a chance (or try for that matter) to explain why I was there or why I wanted access to his field. I was fully expecting a posted field anyway, but I was imagining him tossing and turning that night trying to understand why some random dude wanted to walk in his field.
