From Geohashing

June 14 Tue

Well! A lot has happened since my last journal entry, which was over two years ago, when the pandemic lockdowns were just beginning and nobody knew what was going to happen. I've hardly done anything in terms of geohashing since then, at least until fairly recently when I visited a hash on my way home from getting my car serviced.

I now live in Aberdeenshire, and I'm enjoying my new country immensely! Scotland is like heaven. It's so rural here, and although I have to stay alert to make sure I keep the house maintained and fix all the little weird things that keep happening (leaky skylights, power cuts etc.), getting out and exploring has been wonderful now that the weather's warmer.

I hope to continue hashing, but it's not always going to be easy, especially given that (a) locations could often be in the mountains and (b) the roads to get to places aren't always easy to navigate.

My other hobbies are slowly picking up again as well. The music studio is almost done, and I have my photography gear ready to use now. The main difficulty is the writing: it's hard to get going again on my WIP. Hoping inspiration will strike while I'm up a mountain!

A CNR yesterday, which was disappointing. However, the location (Gight Woods Nature Reserve) was lovely, and was in a rare piece of ancient woodland. I'm planning to return some day with a good camera and lens, and try some wildlife photography.
