Expedition

Danatar

I went to the hashpoint directly from work, because it was already getting dark and it would have taken too much time to go home and get my bike first. I drove to Güntersleben, then along a small country road until I parked the car at the edge of the forest. From there I took the first forest track that went into the direction of the hashpoint.

I reached a T-intersection... uhm... By now it was totally dark, but luckily I had a flashlight with me. I went northwards and took the next track path to the east until the East offset was correct, from where I just followed the GPS. Then I did the GPS dance... and danced... and danced... After many circles I had the correct location long enough to take a picture, so I turned back. And turned... and turned... uh, where's "back"?

I went just straight ahead for a moment, then looked at the GPS. Not the correct direction, so I went into another direction. Also not the correct one. Had I not planned to always bring a compass with me? Finally I found out where south was and went there. Wait, I remember this clearing, the path I came from must be somewhere here... oh, there seems to be a gap between the trees... no, it isnt. Perhaps it's here... again no, there were no big stones in the middle of it. Wait, there it is! I hope. I followed the path until I reached the one I had been on before (or so I thought). A while later I turned right. Finally I came to the edge of the forest... erm... this is not where I started. I followed along the edge of the forest until I reached my car, then I drove home.
