The expedition went as planned. I took a slow regional train to Ansbach, then went to the court garden next to the train station to eat the first half of the lunch I had bought in Würzburg: asian fried noodles with chicken to go. Then I set out towards the hashpoint. The my route instructions were easy: cycle around the court garden, then follow the federal road B14, then follow the state road to the hashpoint. Because the federal road was a 4 lane high speed road, I prefered the side tracks for a large part of the route. Cycling was more difficult than usual, I don't know why (it wasn't the dynamo like during the [[2010-05-16 49 9]] expedition). After a while I reached the forest where I knew the hashpoint was located and to the track I believed lead to the hashpoint. I cycled through the up to 50 cm high grass until I reached the distant corner of the field. When I took a glance at my GPS receiver I found out that I had taken one track too early, so I cycled back towards the road. While doing so I scared a deer that was hiding in the field only 5 metres from me, but it disappeared into the forest before I could take a picture. At 15:35 I reached the correct edge of the forest. I carefully walked through more than waist-high nettles along an abandoned but still recognizable track and reached the hashpoint.

Expedition

The expedition went as planned. I took a slow regional train to Ansbach, then went to the court garden next to the train station to eat the first half of the lunch I had bought in Würzburg: asian fried noodles with chicken to go. Then I set out towards the hashpoint. The my route instructions were easy: cycle around the court garden, then follow the federal road B14, then follow the state road to the hashpoint. Because the federal road was a 4 lane high speed road, I prefered the side tracks for a large part of the route. Cycling was more difficult than usual, I don't know why (it wasn't the dynamo like during the 2010-05-16 49 9 expedition).

I celebration of the special day I ate the rest of my fried noodles and finished it with some Nibs. Then I waited for 4 pm. At 15:45 I heard distant thunder, but it became less after a while. A few minutes after 4 pm I left the hashpoint and followed the abandoned track in the other direction which soon lead me around the nettles and back to my bike. Then I cycled back to Ansbach, bought groceries in a supermarket on the way and went to the train station. The return train trip was as boring as the there trip, I got off one station early because it was nearer to my home.

P.S.: In the evening of the 23rd I was scratching that itching "pimple" on my shoulder for what felt like the one hundredth time since the evening before. For the first time I looked at it and instantly identified it as a tick! PANIC! I instantly went to get a pair of tweezers and pulled it out.
