Location

A train yard inside the Boeing plant near Everett.

Participants

Plans

Meet at the parking lot immediately south of the point at high noon. Aero, who works for Boeing, will reach the actual point. Unclear whether others will also be able to. -- OtherJack (talk) 13:15, 23 February 2013 (EST)

Expedition

AeroIllini, who used to work at this same aircraft plant, was kind enough to give OtherJack a ride up! They tried to see if Jack could be brought inside the fence as a guest of Aero, but were informed that "personal tours" were no longer permitted. So they headed to the mostly empty parking lot mentioned above to look at the hashpoint and surrounding train equipment through the barbed wire fence, and scout out whether Aero could reach it alone with his own credential and get the Restricted area achievement. Unfortunately, the answer turned out to be no - it was an area of the plant he knew he wouldn't be allowed to wander into, even as an employee. So photos were taken, posted below by Aero and then home was headed. Jack's GPS read 150-odd feet (~50m) at closest approach by the fence.

This was the first time Jack had seen the massive Boeing factory at all, despite passing within a mile or two numerous times on other trips... lots of partially built aircraft could be seen inside at one point through an open gateway, and mostly finished ones outside. It was quite the sight!
