Expedition

The hashpoint is located in the plains of Ostrobothnia.

Pastori and The Wife had had the privilege to keep their favorite (and only) daughter with them for a month since she came back from Japan. Now it was nevertheless time for her to continue her studies in Finland. That meant driving a vanload of furniture and stuff to Vaasa, straight across Finland to the west. The distance was about 500 km one way. Pastori borrowed a big van, which could hold the stuff of the daughter easily.

We went there yesterday, furiosly cleaned the apartment, then carried all the stuff to the fourth floor, some of them through the stairs. All went well, but a bit sweaty it was. The daughter stayed in her new home and Pastori and The Wife drove about 80 km eastwards to stay with the sister of Pastori in Seinäjoki for the night.

Pastori found a giant mushroom!

Tomorrow morning we started homewards. Pastori had borrowed the van from a registered association that holds a second hand market for charity. Thus Pastori's sister spotted a splendid opportunity to empty some old furniture from storage. We could get the van about half full with this. Probably the association will get some dozens of euros from them to help for example orphanages in Chad.

A splendidly clear and unseasonably warm end-of-summer day lured Pastori and The Wife to search for a hashpoint in the way, despite the detour of few dozens of kilometers. We located the point easily, it was right beside the road, only 12 meters. The satellites weren't favorable this time and didn't give any closer readings, although the surroundings were quite open.

About the terrain there is not much to tell. It was in the woods, and that is all. Then a few pictures and towards home, where we got only late in the evening.

This weekend we drove 1100 km, visited one hashpoint and sweated about five liters.
