Location

on a quiet residential street in Hamburg-Bramfeld

Participants

Expedition

I had to go to Hamburg anyway to borrow a book and take part in some psychological studies at the university, so this hash was perfect as it didn‘t cost me any extra time, and even filled out most of the free time I had. So starting from my university department buildings, I took the U1 and got off half an hour later at Farmsen, then cycled 2.5 km along one street to the hash. Using the satellite image, I didn‘t have any trouble finding the location as it lay on the transition between the street and the tiling of a private entryway. Just as I started to take photos, I saw a cat and set out to pet it to gain the Hashcat achievement. It seemed shy, and I followed it onto the path to a private house, but fortunately it stopped right before the gate and I was able to pet and photograph it. Then I went back and took the usual pictures, admiring the relative quietness of this community in the middle of the city (I only saw one person the entire time I was there and there was no traffic). After looking at a rusty and mossy old car in a driveway only 12 m from the hash and laying an x on the ground for possible other geohashers, I cycled back on the same street, only stopping to look at an old tower. I had some time left, so I bought a Franzbrötchen from a bakery and then took the U1 back to the main campus where I took part in my second study of the day.
