Expedition

After first discovering this whole geohash thing on the 18th, I couldn't wait to make my very first visit to a location, as soon as one popped up that was close enough to my house. Luckily, I only needed to wait a day, as the spot on the 19th in my home graticule of 41, -73 was close enough to stop by after work! Thus, I set off on my maiden voyage.

Reaching the cul-de-sac of Sherwood Lane was no trouble at all. I had known that the exact spot was off the road just a bit, but what Google Maps hadn't made clear was that it was right on the edge of someone's lawn. Having thought that it was in an unoccupied plot, this was quite a bummer. I got as close as I could without feeling like I was trespassing, but just a mere 10m away, I had to call it off. It wasn't worth getting shot at with a shotgun on my very first geohash.

It was unfortunate that I couldn't reach the exact spot for my first ever geohash, but I'm being harsh on myself because when I actually achieve it, I want it to feel earned. I'm still very happy to have found this community, and I really look forward to logging a successful trip soon. I'm the first person to log a trip in my home graticule in six years, amazingly enough, and I hope I can help make the Danbury box active again.
