Expedition

I had already missed out on the hash the day before due to heavy rains, even though it would've been a (barely) sub-2 hour expedition, so I had to go for this hash today, which would take slightly over 2 hours.

I rode the train to Großenaspe and then cycled 3.9 km to the hash. It lay on a huge field of more than chest-high barley next to a farm. I had to crawl through some brambles and then walked 120 m along the edge of the field, in partial sight of the farm where people were working and probably spotted me, causing me to hurry. The coordinates were 32 m onto the field, and I tried my best not to step on any barley, which I managed pretty well due to frequent gaps and molehills between the stalks. I could also use some transverse tractor tracks where the barley was irreversably run over by thick wheels, leading me to feel less bad about the few stipes I might've stepped on.

I found the approximate position and deemed it good enough, took pictures and went back, now with workers tending to horses right on the next field, definitely perceiving me. I crawled back to my bike and set off, noticing that I was already a few minutes behind my schedule to catch my train back. Without further ado, I scrapped my plan of cycling to a different station and rushed back to Großenaspe in high speed. Thankfully, the journey consisted of a short, steep climb and then a long descent, so that I arrived two minutes early for the 40-minute train ride home.
