Location

near the edge of Tangstedter Forst, a large forest in Tangstedt, Kreis Stormarn, Schleswig-Holstein

Participants

Plans

cycling there before it gets dark

Expedition

I cycled the 10.4 km there in the late afternoon after watching the Winter Olympics all day. It was cold and rainy, and the 3 km unpaved road from Henstedter Weg to Wilstedt-Siedlung was basically a giant mud puddle. I arrived at Tangstedter Forst wet and with very dirty bicycle, shoes, and trousers. I cycled a short distance along the forest border and then walked the last 45 m to the hash at the edge of the woods. The hashdance took me a long while because the signal was terrible and my location kept shifting in directions I didn't go, but I eventually got the Droid to show me near the hashpoint. It was only a few metres from a now-derelict small shelter made of branches. I wanted to take some photos with Lumie, but couldn't find him – I must've either forgotten to take him with me or lost him on the way, which seems unlikely, but a day later I still haven't been able to find him. I hope he's alright.

I decided to take a different route back to avoid the mud road, so I cycled another 11 km through the forest and then along the busy Schleswig-Holstein-Straße, arriving soaked and scruffy in the dusk.
