Expedition

I considered going to this hash in the morning, before I went to uni to learn for an upcoming exam with fellow students, but the trains ran inconveniently and I wanted to catch up on last night's events in the World Athletics Championships, which I closely follow. So I had to go there after.

I left a little too late to catch the right S-Bahn to get the AKN, so I passed a quarter of an hour in Hamburg's Planten un Blomen park. However, the S-Bahn arrived late and I missed my A1, so I had to wait another 15 minutes in Eidelstedt until I could board the train to Lentföhrden. There, I cycled 3 km to the hash, which lay on a huge field of oat – my first, I think (oat is not that common here). I could see the tractor tracks along which I could walk, but getting there was the problem: I walked up and down the field until I tried entering from the corner, where my track soon vanished and I had to carefully manoeuvre my way to another. Then, I could walk 160 m along the thin path to the hash, which was located only 8 m from the track.

I took a few pictures with Baruch and then cautiously made my way back to my bike. I had spent much more time at the field than I anticipated, and it was now quicker to cycle back to the station and wait for the next train (they run infrequently in the rural villages) than to cycle home directly. So I did just that, arriving at home much later than I had intended.
