Plans

Today's 52,7 is in cycling range, but located in wetlands, while today's 52,8 is on private property.

Also, the GDL, the Union of German Train Drivers, is on strike against Transdev and the Deutsche Bahn. The Eurobahn and the WestfahlenBahn, who are in charge of the trains between Osnabrück and Hannover, should not be affected by that, but all routes could be affected by DB's train dispatchers, who are also on strike. Naturally, I would try to get to Hannover and back by train.

On top of that, sattelite imagery makes it look like the coordinates are behind a fence on the grounds of Hannover 96' Eilenriede Stadium, but who knows, the gates may be open?

What could go right?

Expedition

In the afternoon, I took a Eurobahn to Herford and caught a WestfahlenBahn to Hannover. Since there is just a six-minute time window to change trains, this is a risky connection to make even on a normal day. Today, both trains were just slightly late, and I made the connection.

In Hannover, I took the tram via Aegidientorplatz to Clausewitzstraße and walked the rest of the distance. As it turned out, the gates were open. I didn't take a photo of the plain side entrance I used, but one of the main gates. People were present, kids too, and I saw some athletes excercising, so I guess something was going on.

I walked to the northern side outside of the stadium proper, past a parking lot, and approached what turned out to be the entrance for guests. The outside of the fence featured a helpful map of the area showing its position. On the inside of the fence, next to a birch tree, I located the coordinates and recorded proof.

Afterwards, I left the area and tried to get a look from outside of the fence, but as it turned out, there was a second fence, and I could not go between the fences. The view behind the second fence was not exactly spectacular, so I did not take any photos.

Next, I walked to the Congress Centrum tram station, took the train via Aegidientorplatz to Hannover Central and took the train back home to Osnabrück. The strike had ended at 18:00 while I was in Hannover, and there weren't any incidents on the way back.
