Expedition

I had to take my bike to the observatory that day, and the hash wasn't far – but ironically right next to one of the few regional train stations in the area. And I mean right next to it. Seems the hashgods really didn't want me to take the bike …

Around 6 pm, I left the observatory, cycled to Bergedorf station and rode the regional train through the Sachsenwald, Schleswig-Holstein's largest forest, to the next station of Schwarzenbek. It was raining heavily. I parked my bike on the other side of the tracks and walked to the hash, the parking spot was thankfully unoccupied. Never had a hash this close to a station before. The next train left in around 20 minutes, so my plan had been to cycle around Schwarzenbek for a bit, but I didn't want to soak my jeans, so I instead opted to take a walk.

The street right next to hash had one of the coolest street names I'd ever seen – "Kerntangente", meaning "Nuclear Tangent". Who came up with that? A tangent does not go through a core! I had to find a street name sign to record proof of this. Walking down the road, I came across a severely flooded lake that nearly spilled over onto the street. I did manage to find a sign saying Kerntangente, but continued walking, crossed under the tracks onto the other side where I got a good look at the city's church, and then started heading back to the station.

As usual, I was running late, and I still had to fetch my bike from the other side of the tracks. Fortunately, I could see that the train was not about to arrive, and made it to the platform just in time. I rode the train to Hamburg Central Station, where I disembarked to attend a meeting.
