The Proposals

There have been numerous discussions recently on whether or not to rename certain aspects of the wiki to what some view as less problematic names.

The current achievements/consolation prizes under discussion are as follows:

There two main questions for each:

  • Should the achievement be renamed?
  • If so, what should it be renamed to?

Alternative names are welcomed if you believe the currently listed options need work.

Discussing a Proposal

The discussion of each proposal is similar to that of the proposed achievements. Add a comment to Talk:Renaming Proposal with one of the four following options:

  • Support the proposal - love it, like it, approve it, feel the sport will be better for its existence
  • Do not oppose - think it's a bit dumb, boring, meh, or of no personal interest, but won't hurt anything
  • Oppose - there is a specific stated reason why this renaming should not occur
  • Needs work - this might be viable but has problems the way it is

Alternatively, this proposal has had a lot of recent discussion in the Discord server in the #achievements channel. If you'd like to participate there, you can do so at this link: discord.gg/BvRfGat

Passing Proposal

Once the proposal has been open for 1 month (2024-03-18), any outstanding opposition will be considered. If any opposition to the renaming is strong and cannot be settled, then the change(s) will not occur. Otherwise, if oppositions are minor or those opposing are able to be swayed, the majority vote will be taken.
As far as it is possible, any change will ensure that everyone is happy with the end result.

Implementation

There are various possibilities for how changes will be implemented. Some (non-mutually-exclusive) options include:

  • Renaming and rewording templates
  • Rewriting template descriptions
  • Updating category descriptions and names
  • Modifying templates to allow parameters to change how the achievement appears
  • Mass text find/replace across the wiki

No decisions have been made about implementation.
