::I support the idea, and I agree with relet. Also, I think "Handshake achievement" (or similar) would better describe the achievement - having no other active geohashers nearby doesn't make you less sociable (ok maybe that's because so far I've only met one geohasher who wasn't a drag-along...) --Crox 17:21, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

This got me the idea:

 • Handshake: Perhaps some sort of achievement for most people met? Many of the late Boston crew might be tempted to return to Geohashing to claim it ;) This seems different than Kevin Bacon (above), but somehow related... --Thomcat 21:03, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

I think it is nice to encourage everybody to meet many other geohashers, and I think 10 would be a fair number, because according to this page not more than 13 (can I count?) users might be able to claim it right away, all others would still have to go for it, but I wouldn't mind setting the number to 15 or 20 if that finds more support (though not higher, because there are very few geohashers in some areas). So please, tell me what you think! --HiroProtagonist 21:51, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Speaking of areas with few gh'ers, how about 50% of all the gh people in the same graticule? (Or maybe 50% of everybody withing the whole 9 graticules around, to encourage neighbour visiting...) -- CrystyB 22:02, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Nice idea, but I think it's just too difficult to determine who is from your graticule. Count active geohashers only? What does active mean? Everybody who has ever hashed in your graticule? What if more than the half of these haven't been geohashing since you started the sport? Etc. Thus I would rather want people from less occupied areas to travel further ;) But I will include an honourable mention for that case, and then people can determine themselves what "half" means. --HiroProtagonist 22:14, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
support the achievement, but I don't like the direct ranking. I wouldn't mind static ranks (as in the Decurion-Centurion), which encourage you to go further, but highscore lists always create a false spirit of direct competition. -- relet 13:03, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
I support the idea, and I agree with relet.
